This collection consists of working folders used by the Land Group and its predecessors, including some documents created by the Donald Wiese Company and Gilbert Chavez. The records include maps, notes, legal descriptions and small to medium-sized survey plats. These records are arranged by the sequential box identification (usually a letter code or number) assigned by the Land Group. Box 63 is an exception, having been placed at the end of the content list and given its number by the processing archivist. The location of each box in the stacks is also listed to aid in retrieval. Each box is labeled according to the companys alphabetic and numerical order, followed by the locations represented in its contents. These follow several schema based on the legal status of the land surveyed: For land surveyed by the United States Reclamation Service (USRS) or Bureau of Reclamation, files are organized by map number and then further divided within each map. For land in the Public Land Survey System, files are organized by township, range, and section. land in incorporated subdivisions, the files are organized by subdivision, block, and lot.

The Land Group was formed in August 1996 by Isaac Camacho and Jerry H. Williams. In October 1996 the Land Group bought out Botsford Land Surveying Inc. Both companies surveyed land in New Mexico and West Texas. Jim Botsford had founded a company called B and M Surveys in 1975 with surveyor Jorge Moy, who had worked for the Donald Wiese Surveying Company.
